Light from my Coleman 505 lantern - or maybe a flashlight; I
was using both (and some with campfire light!).

voluptuous birch
Near Eben, Alger County, Upper Peninsula | 2010.02.24
Nikon D700 | Nikkor AI-S 24/2.8 | I like the
‘voluptuously ’curvy bark and luxuriant snow -
reminds me of the tree equivalent of a rich society lady
wearing an oversized fur coat with many expensive diamonds.
Another favorite lens.

reaching branches with yellow & green and
gold
Eureka Dome, Alaska | 2010.09.06
Mamiya RB67 | Mamiya-Sekor 180/4.5 | Ektachrome E100VS; Expired
ca. 2004, shot 2010, stored in freezers in AK, ID, MI, AK
again, finally developed 2013.11 in UAF darkroom! | scanned
with Nikon cs-9000
The green on the leaves in the printed version of this photo
has a ‘heavy’ feel, almost like they’re
painted over the photo, which I like - it goes well with the
metallic paper.

pearly bark & yellow leaves
Eureka Dome, Alaska | 2010.09.06
Mamiya RB67 | Mamiya-Sekor 180/4.5 | Ektachrome E100VS; Expired
ca. 2004, developed 2013.11, UAF. (this is my usual color film
‘schedule’!) | scanned with Nikon cs-9000
Fly on bark of tree - not noticed until final photoshop
zapping! I always travel to Eureka Dome with lots of cameras -
as many as 11! Piles of lenses, too. And film, and beer, and
fire, of course.,

bouquet of curvy birch
Eureka Dome, Alaska | 2010.09.06
Mamiya RB67 | Mamiya-Sekor 180/4.5 | Ektachrome E100VS; Expired
~2004, developed 2013.11. (I need to coin the term
‘stressed film photography’!) | scanned with Nikon
cs-9000
I made an 8x10 print of this on a sample of the Red River
metallic paper, and saw that it matched the character of
birches perfectly, so bought some more of that in a bigger size to print more birches.
